Residents from all over Santa Clarita attended the annual Meadow Collective Christmas Market on Dec. 8. It was hosted on Hart and Main, an apartment complex that was repurposed as an event space. The market sold entrance tickets from noon to 5 p.m. for 10-dollars, with a five-dollar discount for those who brought a friend or family member.
The market was packed with customers taking a stroll and viewing the unique products the local vendors had to offer. Stephanie Laundergen, owner of local small business Aromavera, described the products she was selling: “I’m selling candles and they’re made with no harmful ingredients like all these toxins [Phalates, Carcinogens, Mutagens]. Unlike the candles at the store which have all these harmful ingredients, I made my candles using coconut wax and other natural ingredients so everything about the candles is organic.” Laundergen is an experienced vendor and has sold her candles at the marketplace annually.
When asked what draws her to The Meadow Collective, Laundergen expressed, “I love the atmosphere here and just the overall vibe. I think it’s very well organized and they have a really good gauge on how many people are gonna attend which is nice for a visit.” The Meadow Collective brings back recurring vendors and newer local businesses, all hoping to promote their products.
This is the case for Brandon and his wife Erika Palafox, owners of Grain and Glory Woodworks. Mr. Palafox wanted to apply for The Meadow Collective because he heard “this event is a good turnout for a lot of local vendors selling products so [he] applied and got in for this winter market.” They sell handmade cutting boards, cutlery boards, miscellaneous kitchen utensils and wooden flags.
With the market featuring a variety of unique vendors, customers could buy all types of drinks and accessories. First-time attendee Sung Lee shared his experience, “I loved how diverse the vendors were. I picked up a few handmade gifts and even tried some really amazing craft cocktails at the bar—it was such a fun way to support local businesses while getting into the holiday spirit.”
For the people of Santa Clarita, the Meadow Collective Christmas Market has proved to be a staple in the holiday season, uniting the community in support of local businesses. The event is well-attended year after year with its lively atmosphere and diverse products. Vendors were grateful for an opportunity to share their crafts and reach out to the community while customers left with bags full of unique, handmade gifts and smiles on their faces.
