West Ranch’s class of 2025 gathered on the football field on the morning of Aug. 22 for the annual Senior Sunrise. As seniors sat on blankets, took pictures and ate doughnuts, they celebrated the start of their final year of high school alongside a breathtaking view.
Students began trickling into the field at 5:45, with the sky still painted dark. Due to the early hours of the sunrise, many Wildcats arrived with caffeine to fuel the rest of their day. “I met up with my friend Jackson at Starbucks for coffee before driving up together,” Senior Sophia Sadaqatmal explained.
For many seniors like Sadaqatmal, this event solidified the start of their year. “It made me feel like ‘Wow, I’m actually a senior now and doing these very exciting activities with my friends,'” she continued.
In agreement, senior class president Natalie Merchant revealed the sunrise “truly makes you think about how the time we spent at West Ranch flew by.”
Senior Sunrise has traditionally been a memorable start to every class’s year. Senior class vice president Naomi Kim expressed, “It’s the beginning of the school year, so we, ASB, just want the class to bond, get together, and kick the year off to a good start with the sunrise.”
Holding similar sentiments, Merchant conveyed, “We wanted our class to come together as one, regardless of the cliques, and just enjoy each other’s company.” Leaving an unforgettable impression on the seniors, the field quickly filled with laughter and smiles, proving the event’s success.
After the sun rose over the hills and the event drew to an end, the class of 2025 gathered in the middle of the field for a group photo. Seniors looked up to wave with their friends at a drone capturing the moments throughout the morning.
“I’m really excited for more senior events,” Merchant expressed. “I’m hoping to plan some more fun activities to get everyone even more hyped for senior year.” Seniors, be sure to make the most of all the events ASB has planned throughout the year!
