A paradise on Earth for anyone with a massive sweet tooth, Dirty Dough is the new hot spot for delicious, fluffy cookies in Santa Clarita. The store has taken SCV by storm since its grand opening at the Stevenson Ranch Strip Mall in the summer.
What Makes Them Stand Out
Dirty Dough has an interesting take on the traditional cookie by making the inside of the cookie “dirty.” Their cookies are made to be jam-packed inside with fillings, mix-ins and layers.
“There’s no other cookie place that makes cookies like them,” Junior Elzat Parhat praised. All cookies, including classic flavors like their stuffed chocolate chip, are designed to have some glamor in the middle. While some are more stuffed than others, you can always expect to bite into a warm, stuffed cookie when enjoying Dirty Dough.
Aside from their classic flavors, Dirty Dough implements special weekly flavors depending on the season, like “Caramel Apple Pie,” “Cannoli” and much more. This allows the shop to show its creativity while allowing customers to have a distinct experience each time they visit the store. “I like having all the different options because it allows me to try new flavors and find some that I really enjoy,” Junior Riley Crawford added.
Their hidden gems, however, are their Dirty Shakes and Dirty Scoops, where “you pick one of [our] cookies and [either] chocolate or vanilla ice cream and we put it in a scoop or blend it,” Grayson Clark, a staff cookie baker, explained.
Location & Convenience
Dirty Dough seems to have hit the jackpot venue-wise. They have set-up shop in the middle of the Stevenson Ranch Strip Mall on The Old Road, ten minutes from West Ranch. Its proximity to West Ranch and the Stevenson Ranch Library makes it a perfect pit stop for those who are craving a sweet treat during the school day. The store is easily accessible to anyone doing tasks in the area. Parhat commented, “It’s right by my house, so I can just go there anytime I want”
The interior design is very simple and sleek, and the transparent barrier separating customers from the staff makes it easy to see the cookie-making process in person. Along with this design, their display of cookies also allows you to see what you are going to get before you order.
Behind The Scenes
The employees even agree that the specialty of the cookie comes from the “dirty” filling. Clark explained, “We care more about our slogans, like ‘It’s the inside that matters,’ so it’s more about what it’s stuffed with than the toppings.” This ideology has been essential to the operation of the store. It is the driving force in the appeal and uniqueness of the cookies, and the workers seem to be aware of that as well.
Opening in July, the business took off together with the temperatures. As fun as it was busy, the staff enjoyed seeing new faces come in and try the different flavors: “It was hectic at first but it was always fun, good energy and good vibes,” Gaby Guedes, another staff member, recalled.
Cats, if you are in the area and have the time, make sure to visit Dirty Dough!
